According to Luiz Antônio Constant Rodrigues da Cunha (2000: 53-56), São Paulo city Lyceu do Sagrado Coração de Jesus, in 1886, “began the professional course activities teaching the crafts of typography, carpentry, tailoring and shoemaking, later adding to this list the type casting and marble work. … It was in the graphic arts workshops (typography, type casting, binding) that the best quality professional education was provided, and graduates were sought after by companies in the field.” In 1918, some workshops were relocated, with “the lucrative workshops remaining at the headquarters, namely: typography, printing, bookbinding, type casting and tailoring.”
